About us

Why I started Hearth.

I kept noticing a contradiction in the way we live now. We have more ways to reach one another than ever, yet it is still possible to move through life without feeling deeply known. Technology made interaction abundant. It did not always make belonging easier.

I wanted to build something that could pay attention to the shape of a person's life: the conversation from last week, the interview happening tomorrow, the dream they keep returning to, and the people they wish they knew. Not another feed or app demanding to be opened. A thoughtful presence in the same place their real relationships already live.

Hearth began with a different question: what if AI could know you well without making itself the centre of your world?

That is why Hearth lives inside iMessage. You simply text. Over time, Hearth can remember what matters, follow up when a moment deserves it, understand the photos and voice notes you already share, and help with the small favours a thoughtful friend might do. It should be warm and capable, while always being honest that it is AI.

The longer vision goes beyond companionship. With enough understanding, restraint, and explicit consent, Hearth may recognise two people who could genuinely understand one another. Not because they completed matching profiles, but because their values, ambitions, temperament, or lived experiences resonate. Nothing is shared unless both people want the introduction.

The AI relationship is not the destination. The standard is whether Hearth helps someone become more honest, stay closer to the people they love, and meet people they may never have found otherwise. Technology should make real life larger.
